STUDY ON BOARD
Read Korean, Live Korean

Learn Korean Wherever You Are

Study on Board is a new way to learn Korean — from your current place, on your flight, and in Korea itself.
Before departure, during the flight, and after arrival, you can explore the rhythm, sounds, and culture of real Korean life. Not just learning Korean, but living it through reading, listening, and experience.

Our Focus: Reading, Listening & Cultural Immersion

We specialize in Korean reading and TOPIK listening training, designed for learners who want to build a real foundation of understanding.

  • Reading-Centered Approach: Master Hangul, syllable structure, and pronunciation through real reading tasks.

  • TOPIK Listening Training: Experience authentic Korean sounds and expressions through simulated listening tests.

  • Cultural Immersion: Learn how language naturally connects to behavior, manners, and everyday life in Korea.

Three Learning Stages

Your Korean journey unfolds in three stages, seamlessly connecting your current life, your flight, and your arrival in Korea.

1️⃣ Pre-departure Study — Begin where you are.
Before your flight, you’ll build a solid foundation through our web app, focusing on Hangul, pronunciation, and basic theory. It’s a self-paced study that prepares your mind and ear for real Korean.

2️⃣ Study on Board — Learn in the air.
During your flight (6 hours or longer), you’ll continue your learning with audio lessons and reading practice. This unique “in-flight classroom” helps you internalize rhythm and sound while you travel.

3️⃣ Post-arrival Experience — Live what you’ve learned.
Once you arrive in Seoul, theory turns into experience. Over 48 hours, you’ll observe, act, and reflect — practicing real behavior, manners, and communication in everyday Korean life.

From theory to experience, from reading to living — your entire journey becomes one continuous classroom.

How We’re Different
  1. Learn the English pronunciation used by Koreans.
Forget your native accent. Adopt the sounds that Koreans actually use.

  2. Master the syllable structure of Korean.
Understand how consonants, vowels, and final sounds (받침) fit together.

  3. Experience pronunciation change in connected speech.
Learn “Standard Pronunciation Rules” through real examples.

  4. Read → Speak → Experience.
Every step connects theory and real-life communication.

What You’ll Experience
  • Learn with real voices, real people, and real culture.

  • Feel the rhythm of the Korean language through reading aloud.

  • Explore Korea’s lifestyle, manners, and unspoken rules.

  • Gain both academic and cultural confidence in 48 hours.

Hangul 140

  • Tap-to-compose Hangul: Build syllables by tapping a consonant then a vowel; vowel-first auto-inserts as the silent initial.

  • Instant romanization: See the pronunciation for the last syllable (e.g., ga, nya, i) in the status line.

  • Clear visual keyboard: 14 basic consonants (CV onset) and 10 basic vowels (nucleus) in fixed positions.

  • Live progress feedback: Status shows the most recent initial and vowel with both Hangul and romanization.

  • One-click TTS: “Read” uses your browser’s speech synthesis (prefers Korean voice if available).

  • Mobile-friendly layout: Responsive grid keys and large touch targets for phones and tablets.

  • Safe reset: “Clear” empties the text and resets state without page reload.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize and recall the 14 basic consonants and 10 basic vowels by shape and sound.

  • Map Hangul symbols → sounds quickly through controlled CV (consonant + vowel) practice.

  • Understand the role of as a silent onset in vowel-initial syllables.

  • Build confidence forming valid syllables (CV) before moving to coda/final consonants.

  • Read out simple CV strings with consistent romanization and natural pacing.

  • Use basic text-to-speech to connect orthography with sound.

Expected Outcomes

  • Compose and read all 140 CV pairs with high accuracy.

  • Achieve >95% correct mapping on random CV prompts after guided practice.

  • Read at least 60+ CPM (characters per minute) on CV-only strings within the first session.

  • Correctly identify as silent in onset position in 9/10 trials.

  • Produce stable romanization (e.g., ga, na, a, nya, i) with minimal corrections.
